Registration of New Organisation following Disamalgamation

The Victorian branch of the former Professional Officers Association (Australian Public Service) was today registered as an industrial organisation of employees following its disamalgamation from the Community and Public Sector Union.

Industrial Registrar Peter Richards today registered the Professional Officers Association (Victoria) in accordance with section 253ZQ(b) of the Workplace Relations Act 1996 and an order of Justice Tony North of the Federal Court issued on May 3, 1999.

A ballot of members approved the disamalgamation on March 26, 1999.

The Professional Officers Association (Victoria) has about 1200 members and is the first to be registered under the disamalgamation provisions introduced in the Workplace Relations Act. It brings to 122 the number of industrial organisations registered under the Act. Of these, 47 are employee organisations and 75 are employer organisations.
